Obituary of Margaret Koro
Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Koro, Margaret Hayes 75. Passed from this life on April 16, 2014. Born February 19, 1939 in Battlecreek, MI she was the only child of Wanda Jane Hayes and Charles Martin Hayes.
Margaret attended the University of Michigan for both undergraduate and graduate school. She received a Master Degree in Counseling from the University of Michigan as well. Those who knew her knew well, know how much she loved her time at the University of Michigan. She married Paul Peter Koro in Detroit, Michigan in 1964.
After moving to Tulsa in 1976, Margaret was an active member of the Tulsa community. She was a member of the Junior League of Tulsa and a board member at Monte Cassino and Cascia Hall Preparatory Schools. Margaret loved spending time at her favorite place in Northern Michigan; she loved modern dance and Native American art.
Margaret was always a woman of phenomenal insight into others' talents and unexplored gifts. She encouraged the proliferation of Native American art by persistently sponsoring the re-engagement of retired elder artists of the Native American community in embracing their creative voice within the larger Oklahoma communities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Paul Peter Koro II.
She is survived by her two children Martha Mary Koro of Arlington, VA and her son, Paul Peter Koro of Tulsa, OK.
Memorial service will be held at St. Rita's Chapel at Cascia Hall Preparatory School at 11 am on Wednesday, April 23, 2014.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to a scholarship fund that was established to support the education of a medical resident or medical student at Oklahoma State University: the Dr. Paul P. Koro Scholarship at the OSU Foundation.
