Obituary of Ruth Leib
Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruth M. Leib was born in Greenwood, AR on May 17, 1937 to Otis and Damaris Yount. Growing up close to her grandparents on the family's homestead she grew to enjoy gardening, cooking, sewing and the company of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Raymond Yount and her husband Lynn who passed in 1997. She is survived by three children, Doug Leib and wife Mary, Roger Leib and Rebecca Leib-Benningfield. She was the grandmother to Ryan Leib and wife Allison, Erin Duncan and husband Dustin, and Thomas, Taylor and Tanner Stie and her great granddaughter Adelyn Duncan.
Ruth graduated high school in Fort Smith, AR and soon relocated to Tulsa, OK with her parents where she met her husband Lynn. Soon after their marriage they moved to Sand Springs, OK where they became active members of the community.
Ruth and Lynn owned and operated the Sand Springs Florist and Greenhouse. Here Ruth enjoyed sharing her creativity with her community and built close relationships through many special events.
Ruth also was an active member and served as Oklahoma President of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, an organization dedicated to historical, benevolent and patriotic causes.
In 1990 Ruth was an original member of the society that founded the Herbal Affair and Festival. Over the last 20 years this has become a major spring event in Sand Springs being recognized by national publications. Each year a "Hometown Hero" is chosen and Ruth was so honored in 1999 for her contributions to the community.
Ruth went to be with her Lord on February 3rd, 2010 at the age of 72. She is now free of the physical limitations that have challenged her in recent years. She has now been reunited with her husband, family and friends that have gone before her. Many of us will miss her caring and devotion.
Visitation will be from Noon to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 5th at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home in Tulsa with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m
