Roesler, Robert J., passed from this life on Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Robert was born November 17, 1930, an only child, to Edward Harry and Freda Marie Roesler in Coffeyville, Kansas. He graduated from Osage High School and joined the U.S. Marine Corps in July, 1948. After training at the San Diego recruit depot, he was stationed at Camp Bremerton, Washington. When North Korea invaded South Korea, the Marine Corps gathered marines from the California naval bases, and off they went to Korea. As the first group of marines to reach Korea, they were immediately in the war zone. Robert did not talk about the war much but was proud of having been part of the group that walked out of the Chosen Reservoir. He also appreciated San Diego for going all out to meet them upon their return as the first group back. He then was stationed in Washington D.C. and was chosen to be among the marines sent to the Little White House in Key West, Florida, to guard President Truman. After being honorably discharged in July, 1952, he remained in Florida and attended the University of Miami for two years. He then returned to Oklahoma and attended the University of Oklahoma where he met his wife, Minerva Dean Hoye. They were married May 20, 1955. He graduated from Oklahoma City University from which his Juris Doctorate was also conferred. In 1967, he moved his family to Tulsa to join the First National Bank as a Trust Officer. After ten years, he joined the 4th National Bank as a Sr. Trust Officer and retired in 1998 as a Sr. Vice President and Sr. Trust Officer of Bank of America, a successor bank. Robert was a 35-year member of the Oaks Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. He and Minerva were avid OU fans and attended OU football games at home and many away. Robert leaves his loving wife, Minerva, and daughters Valerie White and husband Kenneth, Houston, Texas, and Stephanie Gasaway and husband Jim, Norman, Oklahoma, and four grandchildren, David and Alexandrea White, Houston, Texas, and James and Julia Kinchen, Norman, Oklahoma. The Roesler family extends special thanks to Dr. Paul Krautter and Evergreen Hospice. Services will be held on Friday, February 27th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 4200 South Atlanta Place. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, 91st & Harvard.
