I was saddened to hear about Bob. We grew up together on Main Street in Carthage, and I remember Bunny and Dr. Byrd, Bob's cigar-chomping, LBJ hat-wearing father. I hadn't seen Bob in a long, long time. In late 1968, when he was at Fort Riley Kansas for an operation on his arm, I ran into him(actually I saw Bunny at a gas station in town, and wondered what she was doing in Junction City). I would pull up in my VW up outside the hospital at night and he would come out in his robe where we would talk and share a few beers and smokes. The first time Bob and I met, my mother was checking out of McCune-Brooks with me, and Bunny was coming in to have Bob. At least that's whay my mother has always told me. Again, I'm very sorry for your loss. Yours Truly, John P. McGaughey, 681 S. Kickapoo, Springfield, MO 65804
