Obituary of Rodney McCalman

McCalman, Rodney Lee, 62, died on Friday, June 27, 2008. Born August 31, 1945 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the son of Paul Darrell and Helen Pearline (Percefal) McCalman. Rod graduated from Edison High School in 1963. He received his bachelor's degree from OSU where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He began his career at Clarke's Good Clothes as their general manager. He then worked as general manager for Miss Jackson's for 19 years. Since 2000, he has been in real estate, most recently with Chinoweth-Cohen Realtors as their business development manager. He coached children's baseball for 15 years including the Hoover Cubs. He was president of Central East Tulsa Baseball Organization, served on the board of Tulsa Kids Baseball, the board of Tulsa Center for Physically Limited and the board of Environmental Science at OSU. He was a member of St Pius X Catholic church where he was a lector and usher. He was a loyal OSU and Chicago Cubs fan. He was also an avid golfer. Survivors: wife, Jane Kraus McCalman; sons, Richard Helvick and his fiance' Susan Chow of Portland, OR, Stuart McCalman and his wife Stephanie of Tulsa, Hayden McCalman of Tulsa and Jeffrey Helvick of Flagstaff, AZ; brother, Don McCalman and his wife Beth of Tulsa; nieces, Lisa Goyer and her husband Mike of Broken Arrow, Aubrey McCalman and her fiance' Patrick Cain of Lawrence of Kansas; great nephews, Cody Goyer, Justin Goyer and Brayden Goyer. Memorial Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1 at St. Pius Church. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the St. Pius Endowment Fund, 1727 S. 75th E.
