Jack Everett Potter passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on July 16, 1918 to John H. and Mary Ethel Potter in Arma, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his wife Opal Irene Potter and one sister, Bonnie Israel Henderson, two brothers, Don Potter and Frank Potter and two granddaughters, Tammi Taylor Clare and Jennifer Salisbury Furgerson.
He is survived by his sister, Madge Keith, two daughters, Velva I. Salisbury and Joy A. Lutz and her husband Clifford Lutz, four grandchildren, Robert N. Taylor, Jeffrey D. Salisbury, David C. Taylor and Melissa J. Taylor, six great grandchildren, Alisha Clare Wade, Justin Clare, Aaron M. Salisbury, Brittney Clare, jasmine Johnson and Jamie Taylor, two great-great granddaughters, Braiden Wade, and Kodie Jo Clare, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.
He married Opal Irene Bolch on November 8, 1941 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The were married ust short of 58 years at the time of Opal's death in 1999. The resided in Owasso for the last several years of their lives.
He served in the United States Army for 4 1/2 years during WWII. He was T/3 in Medical Detachment in the 104th Infantry Division. On May 6, 1945 he was awarded a Silver Star for Bravery, when on April 4, 1945 he advanced across open fire-swept terrain to retrieve a wounded comrade and to administer first aid under fire to three other comrades, working tirelessly throughout the day to same many lives.
He owned and operated Hall's Shoe Service, in Tulsa for a number of years until he retired at the age of 62. He was a true craftsman in his trade.
