Nita Louise Lanier Shanks, 94, died on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the Ambassador Manor Nursing Center in Tulsa. She was born September 3, 1913 in Nashville, Tennessee the daughter of James McGinnis and Jennie (Steele) Lanier. She married William Albert Shanks who preceded her in death in 1987. She was a charter member of the Christ United Methodist Church where she was active for many years. She is survived by her sons: William Albert Shanks, Jr. and his wife Irma, Thomas Lanier Shanks and his wife Rita all of Tulsa; Granddaughters: Tami Nogle of Glenpool, OK and Tempest Lowe of Burlington, IA; four Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother: C.A. Lanier; her sisters: Sue Cochran, Martha Banks and Leonora Berryhill. Graveside service will ne 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee, OK
