John Jahue Junk passed away Monday, September 24th, at the age of 79. He was born in Tulsa on December 4, l927 to Irene and Wm. P. Junk and had one brother, Bill Junk, all deceased. John was on the cradle roll in The First Methodist Church and was a life-long Methodist. He married Lila Mae Harris Nov 9, l946. He and Lila celebrated 60 years of marriage. Three daughters, Carolyn Norwood, Gayla Junk, and Susan Junk, were born to their marriage.. Other survivors include grandchildren, John & Becki Norwood, Carie Richardson & Anna Junk, Andrew & Jennifer Winningham, Adam Junk and Harvey Crowder. Also, two great-grandchildren, Kayleigh & Abby Norwood. John was a graduate of Will Rogers High School. He volunteered for two years service in the U S Marines. After graduating from Tulsa University with a B A Degree, John went to work for Stanolind Oil and Gas Company, later known as Pan American and Amoco Corporation. After 35 years he retired from his job as a purchasing agent. Friends and coworkers knew John to be a kind and generous person. Visitation will begin at 10am Wednesday and the family will receive friends from 6-8 at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home, 3841 S. Peoria. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept 27, in the Ninde Brookside Chapel with the Rev. Mark Harvey officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
