Obituary of Joyce Moroney

Joyce (Johnson) Moroney was born on March 13, 1945 to John and Nadine (Sharp) Johnson in Henryetta, OK. Joyce passed from this life on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the age of 68, after a 13 ½ year struggle with ovarian cancer. She graduated from Wagoner High School and Hillcrest Medical Center School of Nursing in 1965. She worked as a psychiatric nurse all of her career, first at Hillcrest then for the first psychiatric unit at St. Francis Hospital as Head Nurse. In 1972 she married Dr. Edward Moroney and raised his three children. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara Davies. She is survived by her husband, Edward; her five children, David (Paula), Anne Terry (Richard), Megan Rogers (Todd), John (Lacey) and Molly Hoffman (John); 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and thanks to Dr. Choo, the Tulsa Cancer Institute and the staff of the Oncology and Hospice Units at St. Francis Hospital for the expert and loving care for Joyce. The Funeral Mass will be 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Webbers Falls, OK with a private interment in Calvary Cemetery.
