Robert E. Charlesworth, 87, passed from this life on Friday, February 7, 2014 in Claremore, Oklahoma.
Robert was born on October 1, 1926 in Guttenberg, Iowa to Erwin and Elsie (Everhard) Charlesworth.
He attended local schools in Guttenberg and graduated from Guttenberg High School with the class of
1944. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where he was awarded the Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal. After his honorable discharge in 1946 he attended the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1950. He and Betty Norton were united in marriage on December 29, 1947 in Dubuque, Iowa. Robert was associated with the Williams Company where he was a Right Away Agent for over 20 years before retiring in 2000.
Robert was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, and was very active in the Blinded Veterans Association and volunteered at the Tulsa Veterans Memorial Clinic and was a member of the Seretoma Club of Tulsa.
He is survived by his wife Betty of the home, daughter, Linda Ann Justice of Tempe, Arizona, a son, Mike Charlesworth of Bedford, Texas, two grandchildren, Gregory David Charlesworth and Hannah Grace Charlesworth.
In lieu of flowers the have asked that memorial in Robert's name be made to the Missions in care of Faith United Methodist Church, 7431 E. 91st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74133 or to the D.A.V. Transportation, 9322 East 41st St, Tulsa, OK 74145.
