Obituary of Robert Hackney

Robert Preston Hackney was born February 25, 1928 in Moundville, MO to Zuber Preston & Agnes Marie (Braun) Hackney and passed from this life January 14, 2014 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 85. He graduated from Liberal High School in 1946 and was the senior class president. He was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corp and served in Japan during the Korean War. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing his stories with everyone. He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and watching baseball games, golf, and the western channel and never missed an episode of The Price is Right. He enjoyed any type of project and loved mowing yards on his riding lawn mower. Robert is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Willa Jean (McPherson) Hackney; and his brothers, Joe and Bill Hackney. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ron & Dawn Hackney; his brother, Don Hackney; and his grandchildren, Daniel & and his wife Josiah Hackney, and Michael Hackney. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home Chapel, 3841 S. Peoria. He will be laid to rest at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, OK.
