William "Bill" Henry Matthews was born September 20, 1954 in Miami, FL and passed from this life January 10, 2014 surrounded by his family in Tulsa, OK at the age of 59. Bill was a man of strong faith who believed that all things were possible with God. He took great pride in a solid work ethic. This began at the young age of 12 when he obtained his first job as a paper boy. Bill was an accomplished carpenter who dedicated 40 years towards his craft. He dedicated 15 years of his life to Taekwondo and achieved the rank of 3rd degree black belt. He was also a certified instructor who was passionate about training others to better themselves at their skill along with their lives. He led by example and always found a way to influence others in a positive manner. Bill was a huge sports fan, specifically college football and specifically the Florida Gators. He could always be found in front of a television watching the Gators during football season. Bill is survived by his mother, Eloise Ann Dowda; his wife, Judy Mary (Anthony) Matthews; his daughter, Erica Dale Matthews; his step daughter, Lindsey H. Anderson; his step sons, Troy D. Cooke (and Jen), Jeremy D. Cooke (and David Robertson) and Christopher B. Anderson; his sister, Angela Marie Dowda; and his grandchildren, Kadyn, Jovanni, Zacari, Katie and Allie; his in-laws, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home Chapel, 3841 S. Peoria. Ninde Brookside Chapel ninde.com 918-742-5556
