Obituary of Charles Ruble

Charles Robert "Bob" Ruble was born in Corsicana, TX on September 25, 1929 to Rolla Elijah & Minnie Maurice (Roberts) Ruble. Bob died in Tulsa, OK on November 18, 2013 at the age of 84.
Bob grew up in McCamey, TX and graduated from Texas A&M in 1951. Later that year, Bob married Bonnie Louise Cron of Rockport, TX. Bob served in the Artillery, U.S. Army as 1st Lieutenant during the Korean War. Bob was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service during 10 months of combat. In 1954 Bob began work with Southwestern Bell (AT&T) in Texas, retiring 33 years later in Tulsa as Division Plant Manager of Eastern Oklahoma.
Bob was an active member of Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church, serving in many capacities over 45 years. He was also active in many organizations, including Kiwanis, Tulsa Men's Club and United Way. Bob loved music, dancing, snow skiing, camping, backpacking, jogging, gardening, golf, bowling and travel.
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bonnie; daughter, Ann (Ruble) Hight and husband Tim Hight of Perry, OK; son David B. Ruble and wife Judith (Harshman) Ruble of New Orleans; son Daniel B. Ruble and wife Sharon (Smiggen) Ruble of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren, Brandon Hight, J.B. Ruble, Bonnie (Hight) Casteel and husband T.J. Casteel, Sara Ruble, Clare Ruble and Charlotte Ruble; four great grandchildren, Dylan Hight, Kennedy Hight, Matt Casteel and Annie Casteel; and sister Mary (Ruble) Sheehan of Houston, TX. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and son, Robert Edward Ruble.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2013 at Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church. In Bob's memory friends may make contributions to Goodland Academy, P.O. Box 1056, Hugo, OK 74743-1056 or to the charity of their choice.
