Obituary of Lee Brenneman
Please share a memory of Lee to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lee Brenneman was born December 18, 1960 in Tulsa to Clark Simon Brenneman and Gertrude (Trudy) Brenneman. He passed peacefully from this life at his home of 52 years from a lifelong struggle with diabetic Down syndrome condition.
As a child, Lee's mom kept him busy with school, gardening, Special Olympics, scouting, church, and bowling. He attended Sunnnyside School, Whittier Elementary, Eugene Field, and Wright Junior High. In spite of his challenges, Lee faced each day with courage and above all, humor! He always greeted you with a smile and a hug. Lee loved Rock 'n' Roll and attending concerts and dances. The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Monkees and Elvis Presley were among his favorites. He would listen to concerts every night.
In addition to the title of "Favorite Uncle Lee," he also earned the titles of Special Olympian in the Softball Throw, Loyal Tri-Wheeler with his mom and the "Family Comedian." He enjoyed 34 years on the Charlie Allen Bowling League as a charter member. Upon the loss of his parents, Gatesway Foundation came into the home to manage his care and in 1995 he was blessed with his roommate, Mr. Billy Moore. The two of them being life-long buddies, lived together in their "bachelor pad" for 20 years until Billy's passing in December 2011. Lee was blessed with several wonderful caregivers. Joann Bussear worked every weekend for 20 years with the "boys." Joann was famous for taking them to Sonic every Sunday evening, mainly for the music in the car! Swan Lake was also a favorite stop! Lee was an inspiration to family and caregivers; from an exceptional child he became a very loving, courageous adult. Lee will forever be missed in the hearts of his family and friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Clark S. Brenneman; and his roommate, William Moore. Lee is survived by his brother, John Brenneman; his sisters, Molly Kurtz and Martie Peschka; 3 nieces; 4 nephews; 2 grand nieces; and a grand nephew.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Ninde Brookside Chapel and a graveside committal will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute in Lee's memory to Gatesway Foundation at gatesway.org.
