Obituary of Rosalea Mayfield
Rosalea (Thompson) Mayfield was born May 6, 1940, in Muskogee, OK to William Thompson and Ruth (Bryant) Wilson and passed from this life on November 14, 2024, at the age of 84.
Rosalea earned her mothering skills by caring for her younger sisters while their mother worked at the hospital. This was extended to the care of her own children and then for 25 years as she cared for other children in her home, running her own daycare. Upon graduation she took a job at P.S.O when she met the love of her life on a blind date with Dean Mayfield. Immediately smitten by his strong build and kind demeanor they married in 1960 and began their family. She became involved in her childrens' school and sporting events through score keeping and cheering from the side lines. Her family was always her priority. When she and Dean became empty nesters, she became Grandmommie and continued her loving and caring for each of her grandbabies. She participated in all their baseball games, dancing, football and school activities. The later part of life she enjoyed spending time with friends at luncheons and gatherings. She had a large group of friends she loved socializing with. She continued to make time for her sisters and loved traveling with them every chance she got. She left this world still placing her family first. She will be greatly missed.
Rosalea was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Arnold Dean Mayfield; by her daughter, Karla Zimpel; and by her sisters, Carole Bartels and Doris Larkin. She is survived by her daughter, Trina Rogers; her son and daughter-in-law, Damon & Shelly Mayfield; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon & Glen Butler and Donna & Billy Winters; by her 6 grandchildren; and her 7 great grandchildren.
