Obituary of Cynthia Ann Campbell

Please share a memory of Cynthia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Cynthia Ann (Strait) Campbell was born June 29, 1944, in Tulsa, OK to H. Junior Strait and Peggy Lee (Morris) Strait.  She passed peacefully from this life on September 30, 2024, at the age of 80.

Cynthia had a passionate love for traveling and was willing to go anywhere. This love of travel started at a young age when her family took a vacation to Mexico City to visit family. She continued to fuel the love of traveling during her young adult years when she and her mother moved to Tripoli for about 18 months. After returning from Tripoli, Cynthia did what most women did back then, and found the love of her life, Raymond Campbell. The two married in 1973 and did the family thing by raising their two children Scarlett and Wade. While the children were growing up Cynthia made sure to plan a family vacation each summer. Travels included going to Canada, Nashville, North Caroline, Arkansas, and Texas just to name a few places. Ray and Cynthia continued their travels once the kids were grown, by going to Las Vegas, New Orleans, Reno, and taking cruises. On a couple of cruises, they even took the grandchildren to the Caribbean, London, Paris, Belgium, and Russia. Cynthia’s last big trip was Christmas of 2018 when she took all the children to Atlantis in the Bahamas.

When Cynthia was not planning her next trip or reminiscing about where she had been, she would volunteer her time with the Downtown Lions Club. One of her most cherished memories is when she was named Lion of the Year. She continued to volunteer with the Lions until her health would not allow her to do so. Cynthia was active in church all throughout her life as well. Her last church home was Catoosa First.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents Peggy and Junior, her bonus father Al, and husband Ray. Cynthia is survived by her daughter Scarlett Young, son James Campbell and wife Resy, granddaughters Danielle and Kennedy Young, brother Michael Strait, and brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Barbara Campbell.
