Obituary of Matthew Edward Michael

Matthew grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he attended grade school at Grimes Elementary, and attended middle school and high school at Metro Christian Academy.  He graduated from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Upon graduation, Matt worked for J.P. Morgan Chase in St. Joseph, Missouri. While there, he was invited to their headquarters in New York where he received an award as an outstanding employee. He returned to Tulsa not long after his marriage to Kortney Smith and worked for many years as a Senior Business Analyst for Avis Worldwide.

Some of Matt’s favorite things included watching his sons play baseball, cooking and watching cooking shows, gardening, KC Chiefs football, and Saint Louis Cardinals baseball. He also enjoyed coin collecting.

Matthew is survived by his wife, Kortney and their two sons, Matthew Glen Michael and Andrew William Michael; his mother, Sybil Michael; his sister, Melanie Garland and her husband, Bill; nephew, Trenton Ritter; his uncles and aunts, Brad and Deborah Hall, Charles and Ramona Hall; and his wife’s parents, Susie and Skip Smith. Matt was preceded in death by his father, Glen Michael in 1995.

A private family service is planned. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Metro Christian Academy Baseball Booster’s Club, 6363 S. Trenton Ave., Tulsa, OK 74136.
