Obituary of Mary Lou Mattox
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Lou (Carpenter) Mattox was born September 4, 1929, in Carroll County, Arkansas to Albert Dale & Reba Rea (Robertson) Carpenter and passed from this life April 14, 2024, at the age of 94.
Mary Lou was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and made her profession of faith at an early age. She married Gerald Mattox in 1948 at the age of 19. Mary Lou and Gerald moved to Tulsa in 1953 from Arkansas to pursue employment opportunities. She spent her life caring for and providing for her family. She worked for many years as a letter analyst at Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association and retired from OREA.
Mary Lou served her Lord through her church visitation ministry, assisting Gerald with teaching Sunday School, and, in retirement, leading bible studies. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Visiting with them in person and remotely would make her day. She took pride in her Arkansas roots, and never turned down an opportunity to return to visit or to relive memories of “back home” in Arkansas.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 67 years, Gerald Lester Mattox. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Pam & Chris Miller, and Roger & Carrie Mattox; her brothers and their spouses, Jim & Kathy Carpenter, Tom & Joann Carpenter and Tim & Tena Carpenter; her 3 grandchildren, Anthony Miller, Nick Miller, and Isaac Dubois; and 2 great grandchildren, Maceo Miller and Skyler Dubois.
A funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Carbondale Assembly of God and laid to rest at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
In memory of Mary Lou, donations may be made if desired to Carbondale Assembly of God Church, 2135 W. 51st Street, Tulsa, OK 74107
