Obituary of Ellen Rebecca York

Ellen Rebecca (Becky) York was born July 16, 1948, in Asheville, NC to Robert and Joyce (Owen) Cathey and passed from this life on January 31, 2024, at the age of 75.

She attended the University of Texas and graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry as a hygienist, going on to have a 45-year career.

Becky met her husband David in Tulsa, OK and they married December 13, 1975. They had two children, Jenny and Bryan, whom she considered her greatest achievement.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Becky also worked with the American Heart Association providing CPR training for schools and local businesses. She was a long-time member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Tulsa and enjoyed gardening, reading, laughing, and always looked for a reason to celebrate. Becky was very loving, giving, comforting, endearing and always had a wonderful sense of humor.

Becky is preceded in death by her parents and brother Robert Cathey, Jr. She is survived by her husband, David Lauren York, two children, Jennifer Elizabeth York Roper and David Bryan York, and five grandchildren, Logan Brandt Roper, Owen Samuel Roper, Molly Elizabeth York, David Michael York, and Peyton Jo York, all of Tulsa, OK.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tulsa, OK with a reception to follow. The family requests attendees wear cheerful colors to celebrate Becky’s love of life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Iron Gate and Oklahoma Mission of Mercy, a free dental clinic offered statewide.
