Obituary of E. Louise Goddard

Elsie Louise Plaster was born on April 16,1934 and passed away on January 7, 2024.  Louise was born to Leroy and Vesta Plaster in Almartha, Missouri, and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She was one of six siblings, Layton, Lawrence, Lynn, Lowell, Louise and Lorren.  Growing up, Louise made many wonderful memories, some of which were:  Attending Eastside Church of Christ and making lifelong friends from the active youth group.  She attended Will Rogers High School and enjoyed many hours roller skating at The Wheel near Mohawk Park. 

There she met the love of her life, Charles Goddard, who was a young man from Central High School.  She’s often told her boys that he was her ”Fonzi” which the boys interpreted as a boy from the other side of the tracks who was rough around the edges but compassionate inside.  That meeting turned into a union that lasted over 60 years and resulted in 3 sons, Charles Jr, Eddie and Duston, 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. After spending their early years in Tulsa, they moved to Jenks. When the boys were all in school, Louise began to work at Jenks Public Schools as a Teacher’s Aid and then as the Nurse’s Secretary. She worked there for 25 years.

The wonderful thing about Louise was that she didn't live for just herself. Helping others, brightening other people's lives also brought Louise much joy in life. She began by managing the Food Services at St John’s Vienney School for Girls in Tulsa.  She was always helping and encouraging others by volunteering as a pink lady at St Francis Hospital delivering flowers to patients. She managed the food pantry of Contact Church and ministered to many families through that ministry. She was also active in Oklahoma Women’s Christian Association.    She believed in the power of prayer and led the Monday Morning Prayer Team for several years.

She did have one hobby that could be considered time for herself. It was her love of painting, canvases that will be passed down through the generations.  Her paintings were sometimes personal, such as portraits of the grandchildren when they were all about the same age.  Others were themes that resonated with her family, like western themes, majestic mountains or country living.
