Obituary of Wilma Carlene Warford
Wilma Carlene (Hoobler) Warford was born in Levy, Arkansas February 4, 1939, to Fern (Lederer) Hoobler and Carl Hoobler. She passed from this life, surrounded by family and those that cherished her beyond describable words, on October 30, 2023, at the age of 84.
Wilma moved to Jennings, OK when she was 5 and attended primary and secondary school there, until 7th grade. She was the only little girl in a family of three brothers, William Bill Hoobler, Kenneth Hoobler, and Ronnie Lowry. She later moved to Tulsa, OK in 1955 and graduated from Central High School in 1957. She worked a part time job at TG&Y where she met Vernon G. Warford, the love of her life, in January of 1957, and soon married on June 8, 1957.
Wilma and Vernon welcomed two children, Regina Kay, born August 26, 1958, and Kerby George, born August 25, 1961. She was a stay-at-home mom until 1972 then used her talents working at an upholstery shop for 5 years. She later changed careers dedicating her life to helping others as a Med Aide in a nursing home for 21 years, 1977-1998 and working in an assisted living center from 1998-2009, 11 years; passing out lots of pills in her 32-year career. She told people she was a "pill pusher". She retired at age 70 in May of 2009. After retirement she headed west, moving to Sand Springs with Kerby and Joy for 10 years, then headed further west moving to Jennings with her daughter and her very best friend, Regina from 2020-2022. Eventually seeking her independence, she got an apartment in Cleveland, OK June of 2022.
She is survived by her son, Kerby, and daughter-in-law, Joy aka Joybug. Her nephew, Randy Hoobler, two nieces, Katrina Hoobler and Kathy Hoobler and longtime boyfriend John. Her 4 grandchildren, Brian, Amanda, Johnathan, and Shanna; 9 great grandchildren, Molly, Megan, Cary, Johnathan Jr., Emily, Joseph (Joe), Aspen, Wyatt and Carson; and one great great grandchild, Avery Rose. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon Warford in 1994; her three brothers, and her daughter, Regina in 2022.
Ma loved to read Amish and Christian love stories, play games on the computer, play dominoes, skip bow with the grandkids, crochet, embroidery, and watch the news, gameshows, and football on TV. She attended Rimrock Baptist Church in Sand Springs and always held steadfast in her dedication and faith to the Lord. Ma will be remembered by her amazing strength and endurance as a woman, to always make even the most difficult of life’s challenges seem simple with her radiant smile. But most importantly, she will be remembered in our hearts as the most kindhearted and beautiful Angel the Lord has ever brought home.
Wilma will lie in state Wednesday, November 1, from 10-8:00pm at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home and her graveside service will be held 2:00pm Thursday, November 2, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, OK.
