Obituary of Stacy Charles Stakis
Stacy Charles Stakis was born on October 15, 1948 in Tulsa, OK to George and Vivian (Camos) Stakis. Stacy passed from this life on Thursday, June 15, 2023 with his beloved wife by his side. Stacy was 74.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Stephanie Stakis. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynda; a step-son Tim Mangum of Broken Arrow; 4 grandsons: Derek, Connor, Seth and Riley; sister-in-law Robyn Sicks and her husband Barry, former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Mangum, who remained a loving family member and caregiver, numerous nephews and a nieces, and a God-sister, Irene Bouakadakis Hopkins of Tulsa, OK.
Growing up, the Stakis and Bouakadakis families were very close and the Boukadakis siblings (Mark, Irene, Sylvia, Mary, Faye and Michael) all considered Stacy a brother. The families would celebrate holidays, birthdays and fun summer trips to Chandler Park. Stacy was quite the comedian, loved to tell stories and always tried to make everyone laugh. Everyone was always excited to see him because he would bring the fun and lighten the mood.
Stacy’s life got even brighter with the birth of his daughter, Stephanie in 1983. She was the world to him, and his love for her was unequaled.
With Stacy’s marriage to Lynda, he found his soul mate, and his family grew larger with the addition of her extended family. Stacy embraced them all as his own, and they did the same for him, becoming a family of happiness and constant laughter. He made sure the celebration of holidays, birthdays, and get-togethers with the family were memorable and fun, and that there was always good food to eat. Stacy’s adoration for Lynda was unwavering, and together, they were each other’s foundation; with a marriage built on love and respect for one another. They were perfect together.
Over the years, Stacy became very productive; using many skills in various occupations. He owned G&S Furniture with his dad, was a bouncer at several popular night clubs in Tulsa, later served as a Sheriff, worked at American Airlines, and in technology at VEXIS Systems. For several years he served as the Security guard for the Annual Greek Festivals. In his later years, his ease in speaking to people, and his friendly stature led Stacy to work in auto sales; which was his final career before retirement.
His work at American Airlines introduced him to Bob Pennington, and they would go on to be close friends for nearly 40 years, along with his wife and son, Charlene and Damon. They enjoyed weekly card-games and regular get-togethers, with their friendship allowing Damon and Stephanie to grow up together.
Stacy had many hobbies including guns and practice shooting, sports cars, playing cards and grilling the best steak you’ve ever eaten. Stacy loved gadgets and was very creative; and even got AT&T’s attention when he created a cellular phone from their desk phone.
Stacy will be remembered for his GREAT LOVE for his YiaYia (grandmother), mom, daughter and wife. He never met a stranger. He was witty and serious all at the same time. Even as his health issues grew, he still found the strength to make others laugh. He will be missed by so many who dearly loved him.
The Trisagion (wake) service will be held on Monday, June 19th, 6:00pm at Ninde Brookside Chapel at 3841 S Peoria. Viewing will be available from 10am-4pm prior to the Trisagion.
