Kevin John Meehan, beloved husband of Barbara, and loving father of Erin and Lisa, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013. Kevin was born May 29, 1957 in East Chicago, Indiana to John and Virginia Meehan. He grew up in Country Club Hills, Illinois where he attended St. Emeric's and then Rich Central High School. He attended the University of Oklahoma where he received a degree in architecture. He pledged Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and met Barbara Becker, who he married in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 11, 1979.
Kevin worked at the Becker family business, Tulsa Sail-Craft, from 1979 to 1998 when he became the manager of West Marine's Tulsa store. During his 32 years in the boat business he developed a loyal following of customers.
He liked sports, especially sailing and OU football. Most important to him was his faith, family, and friends. He was active at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, where he served as Maranatha Class Treasurer and as an adult leader on youth mission trips and numerous other service activities. He was an active member of the Windycrest Sailing Club. He also served as regatta chairman of the 1989 Coronado 15 North American Championships held at Windycrest Sailing Club.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and daughters, Erin and Lisa of Tulsa, sister, Mardelle Gundlach, and brother-in-law, William Gundlach of Glenwood, Illinois. He also leaves in-laws, Joe and Gerry Becker of Tulsa, sisters- and brothers-in-law, Becky and Van Luster and Sandy and Jeff Hardy of Tulsa, and nephews, Adam Gundlach and his wife Sarah and daughter Maelee of Homewood, Illinois, James Luster of Tulsa, Brian and Chelsea Andrews of Tulsa, Jarrod and Rhiannon Andrews of Kiefer, and Alex Andrews of Tulsa. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Meehan, and brother, Thomas.
