Obituary of Sylvia Pauline Brock

Sylvia Pauline (Garrison) Brock, the oldest of 10 children, was born March 19, 1930 in Ralston, OK to Sylvester & Pearl Josephine (Wills) Garrison and passed from this life on April 9, 2022 at the age of 92.
Pauline was educated at Pleasant Mound, OK until mid 6th grade, Pleasant View and Cortez, CO through the 10th grade, and graduated in 1948 from Pawnee High School in Pawnee, OK. She placed first in the 7th grade for the regional essay contest, went on to place second in the state for the same in her 8th grade, placed first in a patriotic poster contest with drawings and slogan in 10th grade, and began writing poetry and music throughout her life. She served on the staff of the school newspaper, illustrated the school annual, and wrote a play presented on the school stage all in her 12th grade.
She worked for the First National Bank in Albuquerque, NM. Upon her return to Tulsa she worked for the Newspaper Printing Corporation in their art and classified advertising departments for 19 years. In 1988 she began a 10 year career with Sand Springs, Inc.; an agency for group homes teaching high level mentally handicapped clients. Among her many accomplishments was her 1st place in the Dale Carnegie Course in the prepared speech category, she was a member of the Toastmasters Club for 2 years, a member of the American Business Women’s Association (winning the national competition in Chapter Scrapbook in both 1987 and 1988, won honorable mention in a national poetry contest and was elected president of PTA for 3 consecutive years.
Pauline was engaged to Bobby Gene Scott of Ada, OK in 1953. Sadly, prior to their wedding he was killed in a car accident. Taking her experience abroad, Pauline went to Germany in 1956. In 1965 she married Edd Lee Brock of Wewahitchka, FL. In the spring of 1966 they moved to Silver City, OK. In 1968 a boy and girl died in infancy and the couple adopted a daughter, Sylvia Gayle. Edd Lee and Pauline were baptized together at Olive Baptist Church.
Pauline is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her siblings, Kenneth Garrison, Richard Garrison, Louise Ingraham, Deena Depaulo, Rosetta Pierre, Carole Garrison, and Shirley Both. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Gayle Brock and her fiancée, Patrick Goggin; her siblings, Louis Garrison and Lois Couch; her grandchildren, Lindsey Kuykendall and her husband, Cody and Nicholas Schiller and his wife, Mary; her great grandchildren, London Schiller and Gentry Schiller; and many nieces and nephews.
Pauline will lie in state Wednesday, April 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home and Chapel. Her Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at the Olive Baptist Church, Drumright, OK. She will be privately laid to rest at the Brooks Cemetery, Silver City, OK.
