I was a student at General Seminary (1993-1996) from a small town, had no money and no idea of how the larger church worked. Jack took the time to get to know me and would take me out to lunch. Looking back, he must have suspected how hungry I was! Those lunches with Jack were when I first realized that a priest could have an outrageous sense of humor. Jack was kind, generous, pious, wonderfully irreverent and always had his eye out for the person/s who might be left behind in society. He really taught me how to be a priest. May he rest in peace and rise in glory! Joel Ives, Parish Rector, Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, Brookline, Massachusetts
