Lost another lifelong friend and bandmate, third this year. Kevin Comer, fantastic drummer and most excellent person, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. We played together in the Oklahoma Crude Band and the Penny-Annie Band. He always made me smile at a minimum and LMAO frequently. We were lifelong friends even if we didn't communicate for a year or two. In the last year I did share with him, via Facebook, how the first time I played with him as a fill- in last minute lead guitarist, that his drumming made the night so much fun that I played my best and was hired permanently by the end of the first set. He had a Tulsa-boy cowboy suave that charm the socks off many a lady. Kevin, you join the ranks of the people I carry in my heart and mind forever. I miss you already.

Once Kevin and I went to Hensons to see Waylon, This was pre 85 so Id been drinking a bit, With Kevin i was always feeling invincable and mischevious so..I decided I wanted to go back stage and meet Waylon. Waylons security were outlaw bikers and they had other ideas, Kevin told them that 'they didnt want to lay a hand on me;; And they backed down.! Kevin said hey ''Jack lets go back to the bar''..All this was heresay the next day to me...because I 'wasnt there'; so to speak. Caveman Kevin always had my back. I am so happy we reconnected last year and we talked several times every week since last october, I soon re discovered that he was one of my best friends of all time.Top 10 friend..Rock in peace Caveman , you and Rick play one for me.okie jack propps nashville tn

Some of my favorite memories include:
“Don’t take any wooden nickels”
A night at the Broadway Motor Inn sitting by the newspaper stand outside when a mutual friend and I spent about two hours convincing him he did not really need the newspaper stand.
The many nights he played drums for me (because he loved to play) so I could play Ms. Pac-Man when might have rather been playing Donkey Kong.
The day he informed us he believed he looked like Robert Mitchum (as we were waiting for him to get ready to go to a movie)
A shared love of El Chico, country & western dancing and Irish Whiskey
Seeing “The Buddy Holly Story” with a group of friends on a very snowy day. I was very young and thought you had to stay home in winter weather!
So long Caveman. Thank you for soooo many great times and memories. You WiLL be missed.

I had some amazing times with he and his family at their cabin on Grand Lake!
Sorry to learn of his passing. Enjoy the next stage, Kevin!

Kevin was a great guy. We were very close in 9th grade. I remember he used to get so mad because his dad would make him sit in the backyard with a BB gun to make sure the squirrels didn’t eat his dad‘s tomatoesHe was very kind and a very talented drummer. Good memories Kev. Till we meet again. Jen
