Obituary of Dorothy M. Corlett
Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy Maxine (Knight) Corlett was born on July 26, 1922 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to William Howard Knight and Daisy Belle (Collins) Knight and passed from this life on May 18, 2021 at the age of 98.
Dorothy was a long time member of the Assembly of God church and most recently attended Carbondale Assembly in West Tulsa. She was an accomplished artist having won many awards at local fairs for her watercolor paintings. She was a member of the Gifted Gabbers club which met every Wednesday in the Sapulpa senior Center. There she enjoyed talking with her friends and participating in various craft projects and learning different art techniques. She loved receiving calls from and visiting with her grandchildren.
Dorothy was a very social person with a great sense of humor and a sharp wit. During her life, its seemed Dorothy's house was the meeting place for all her family and friends and you could always depend on Dorothy to fix something special to eat for her visitors. She would do anything she could to help others. She loved to shop and walk around the malls. She especially loved taking car rides through the countryside which more times then not, ended at Braum's for an ice cream cone. Pecan Praline was her favorite.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years, George Thomas Corlett; her four sisters and her three brothers. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Judy and Bob Wales and Janie and Paul Cushman, her grandchildren John, Justin, Billy, and Crystal, her great grandchildren Bailey, George, Beau, Liam, Owen, Olivia and Robin, and her great great grandson, Jaxson.
Dorothy will lie in state from 12-8 P.M. Sunday, May 23, at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home with family receiving friend from 4 – 7 P.M. And her funeral will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 24, at Carbondale Assembly of God. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
