My Grandma was an awesome lady. I don't say that lightly, either. She had a strength inside her that carried her through her life, in good times and bad. I remember all of the weekends at Grandma's in Kansas City, playing up in the attic with antique toys, going to the zoo or the museum, or even just hanging around the house listening to the radio and doing crafts of some sort.
One of my favorite stories to tell about my grandma is the one in which she is called "Mother Nature". She chewed out some young MBA guy at Bendix for disturbing her while she was decorating a wedding cake. Needless to say, he minded his p's & q's after that.
I still look up to my Grandma Louise as a roll model of someone I greatly admire and hope to be a lot like in future years. Funny, smart, practical, creative and so much more. I can't be there for the service, but I can carry her in my heart for all time.
The attached photo is from many years back in which she came out to Portland to visit one year. She and I drove up to Vista House and then on to Multnomah Falls Lodge.
