Obituary of Geneva Violet Thomas
Geneva Violet (Armstrong) Thomas was born February 11, 1927 in Poteau, OK to Cornelius & Bessie (Cook) Armstrong and passed from this life on February 8, 2019 at the age of 91.
Geneva loved her church family at Shirley Springs Baptist Church and wished she could have attended more frequently. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing dominoes and card games and spending time with family at the cabin on the Barron Fork Creek. Geneva recently became interested in golf and her favorites were Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler. In her younger years, she kept busy by helping her elderly neighbors and by helping with her grandchildren. She had a heart of a servant and blessed many people.
Geneva is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester H. Thomas; her ex-husband, Dan Beede; her son, Gary Wayne Thomas; and her sisters, Mozelle Webster, Grace Starks, Hilda Perryman and Alice Dotson. She is survived by her daughters, Sue Davenport-Lindsey and husband Paul, Linda Johnson, Anita Busby and step daughter Laura Pulay; her son, Jimmy Thomas and her step son Danny Beede; her sisters, Louise McKenzie and Dellan Driscoll; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
Geneva will lie in state Monday, February 11 from noon to 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 4-6 p.m. Her funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Sequoyah Hills Baptist Church, 714 N Harvard, Tulsa. She will be laid to rest at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens following. The family invites you to return to the church following the graveside service for a meal and fellowship.
