Obituary of Naomi Lou Meeks
Naomi Lou (Cockrell) Meeks was born September 3, 1929 to Frank Abbott & Josephine Irene (Hamilton) Cockrell and passed from this life on February 2, 2019 at the age of 89.
Naomi graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in education. She went on to teach in Barnsdall and Tulsa Public Schools.
Naomi married the love of her life, Charlie (Charles) Meeks in 1967. Charlie and Naomi enjoyed travelling. Naomi loved talking about the road trips they took to Alaska in their truck with a slide-in camper.
Naomi and Charlie also shared a love of God. On Sundays, they would attend her church, Baptist, and then his church, Catholic. Naomi lived her faith. She was a kind, caring & giving aunt and friend.
Naomi was a talented artist. She studied the Tole painting technique under Priscilla Hauser and was an active member of T-Town Tolers. Her beautiful works are prized possessions of family and friends.
Naomi is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Meeks; her sisters, Evelyn Carter, Freda Hiatt and Elizabeth Rhoades; and her brother, Dean Cockrell. She is survived by 4 nieces; 3 nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Ninde Brookside Chapel.
