Janet Sweno posted a condolence

Dick was a very special person. He embodied the best attributes of either 'hat' he happened to be wearing at the time, whether it be the Oriental Rug business, which was his life passion, or his sales responsibility for Lynch.
Linda, he spoke with the highest regard for your garden and outdoor 'habitat' that drew so many birds and butterflies. I love his story of what he found in the attic and walls of one of the business locations, and hope his tortoise has had a wonderful and fulfilling life as his has been. I understand your loss in such a wonderful partner.
Chris, I understand too your loss of not only your father, but also of your mentor and business partner. May you hold your memories close at heart.
Condolences and best wishes to your family.
Janet Sweno. Formerly of Richard Honquest Furniture for Life, Barrington IL.

Dick was an amazing man and like others have said, was one of the nicest men that I have met. I have worked for his company slinging rugs for the past 10 years or so. He always had a great story to tell because he could tell them like no other. He will be greatly missed, but he did leave behind a great son whom will carry his torch from here on out. It was a pleasure knowing him, and I am forever thankful for the opportunity to have been asked to join the team. May he rest in peace, for his memory will not be forgotten.

I was so sad to hear of the passing of Dick. I worked with Dick on many occasions both with the oriental rugs and with the Lynch company. He will always consider him a friend more than a business associate. He will be missed.

Dear Lynn and Chris:
My deepest sympathy goes to you. The world has lost an irreplaceable "King".
I was born 4 days before Dick in 1942 so we shared March birth months
for 75 years. I knew him as a warm, generous and caring person. He was
a lifelong good friend and a loving father. I bought my first furniture from him and we shared many great times with our mutual friend John Blair. I will miss him as a friend and
I will especially miss his class and graciousness. His sense of humor and ready smile are
constant memories for me.
God speed, Dick.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the family during this difficult time. "Uncle Dick" as we called him, was a great and fun honorary uncle. Teaching us to fish, waterski and to enjoy all aspects of life. He was the great storyteller and always had some interesting story from his travels. Our lives are better for having you in our lives. Safe travels on your final journey.
