Obituary of Margaret Ann Withington
Margaret Ann Daniel Withington, 95, of Tulsa, OK passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017. Margaret was born on July 3, 1921 in Muskogee, OK, the fourth of five children, to Mae Edith Bratton Daniel and Thomas Jefferson Daniel, Sr. She grew up in Wagoner, OK and moved to Tulsa when she was 12 years old. Margaret graduated from Central High School and attended The University of Tulsa where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.
Margaret was a devoted wife of 64 years to her late husband, David Louis Withington, Sr. She was a loving mother to David Louis Withington, Jr. of Houston, TX, Ann Louise Withington-White of Fort Worth, TX, Margy Gayle Gillispie of Tulsa, OK and Daniel Meade Withington of Baja California, MX. She is also survived by her brother, T. J. “Jeff” Daniel, of Norman, OK and his son, Tom Daniel, of Oklahoma City, OK, twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.
Margaret taught Sunday school, was a Girl Scout leader, and a block chairperson for the March of Dimes for many years. Once her children were raised, she worked as an Executive Assistant until her retirement in 1986, She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, working sudoku puzzles, cooking and spending time with her family.
Everything Margaret did was done with honor, integrity and love. Margaret took great pride in everything she did, always had a positive outlook and was a highly principled, amazing, generous and light-hearted mother, grandmother and friend who enjoyed life to its fullest. She will be dearly missed by us all.
