Obituary of Florence Appolonia Wiederkehr

Florence Wiederkehr entered into Eternal Life on Sunday October 16, 2016 at the age of 88. Florence was born August 12, 1928 in Hartman, AR to Frank & Marie Soerries. She married Raymond Wiederkehr on May 5, 1951. He preceded her in death November 29, 2003. They were married for 52 wonderful years. Florence received her registered nursing degree from St. Johns School of Nursing & worked at St. Johns before becoming a full time mother to her 7 children. Besides being a caring nurse and wonderful mother, she was an amazing cook and gardener. Many can remember the delicious home grown vegetables, made from scratch meals and all the food she canned. Florence was an active lifelong member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She volunteered at St. Pius X School and church for many years. She was a nurturing caregiver for friends and family all her life. We like to call her our little prayer warrior because she was always praying for everyone especially her family. Mom exemplified the kind of faith we all need to live. Florence was a loving, caring, remarkable mother & grandmother of 8 children, 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Words can’t describe our Mother she had a gentle spirit & quiet strength with an inner light that touched the lives of everyone she met. She loved deeply, listened intently and gave so much of herself. Her family & friends agree that she was sweet, humble, grateful, and very selfless. She was our "Ray" of sunshine brightening our lives & anyone who crossed her path. She is survived by her children and spouses; Mary (Kelly) Crespin, Kathy Royal, Elaine (John) Hall, Rosann Vaughn, Janet (Paul) McCulloch, David (Patty) Wiederkehr and Dorothy (Steve) Thornton; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and sister Leona Cronin. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by parents, her son John Francis, granddaughter Natalie Hall, son-in-law Randy Royal and her 11 siblings. Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Pius X Church in Tulsa (1727 S. 75th East Ave.). Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday October 21 at St. Pius X.
