Albert O. "Buddy" Minyard, Jr. was born in Indianola, OK on February 2, 1926 to Albert and Goldie (Shropshire) Minyard. Buddy passed from this life on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the age of 86. Although Buddy's official date of birth was February 2, 1926, the family always celebrated his birthday on November 2nd.
During World War II at age 16 he went to serve in the Navy and was later honorably discharged as a shipfitter third class. Buddy eloped with Anna Trammell in 1948, and using his GI bill obtained a bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration at the University of Arkansas. Hired by Continental Oil Company, he worked for 17 years in business administration. He then became the owner of Minyard's Chrysler Plymouth car dealership for five years in Mc Alester, Oklahoma. After that Buddy went to work for Gulf Central Pipeline, which was later bought by Santa Fe Railroad. He became their safety director and environmental officer for several pipelines owned by the railroad and he retired after 17 years. Buddy served as a deacon at Southbrooke Church of Christ for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Reba Minyard and two brothers, Obin and James Minyard. Buddy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anna, of the home; a daughter, Pam Shipley, of Tulsa, OK; one son, Lee Minyard, of Indianapolis, IN; four granddaughters, Rachel Jindra, Mary Moura, Jessica Minyard and Jennifer Minyard; 2 great-granddaughters, Scarlett Jindra and Olivia Moura.
