Obituary of Doris Jenkins

Doris N. Jenkins was born on June 14, 1925 in Wister, OK to David Blant Darrough and Nettie (Free) Darrough. Doris passed from this life surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the age of 87. Doris attended and graduated from Chilocco Indian School in Oklahoma and was very proud of her Choctaw Indian heritage. She worked for many years and retired from Tulsa County Building Operations department. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dave Darrough; her sister, Elizabeth Corbin; her sister-in-law Lola Mae Darrough; and her brother-in-law, George Corbin. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Elizabeth Marlene & Randy Gilkey and Cynthia Parson, all of Tulsa; 2 grandsons, Stephen Parson, of Tulsa and Sean Gilkey and his wife, Abby, of Ft. Gibson, OK; 2 great grandchildren, Courtney Lea Gilkey and Trevor Sean Gilkey; a nephew and his wife, Jack and Karren Darrough, of Tulsa; and a niece and her husband, Kathy and Rev. Sam Davis, of Coweta, OK; and many great nieces, nephews and countless friends. Doris touched so many lives with her beautiful smile and contagious love. She will be remembered and missed by so many. The family thanks everyone for the love, caring, cards and tokens of affection shown to our mother throughout her life and her passing to heaven. Service 10:00 A.M. Tuesday Ninde Brookside Chapel with interment following at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
