Following the war, Mrs. Smith worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone. In 1953, she married the love of her life, Robert Steen Smith—to whom she was married until his passing in 2012—and relocated with him to Tulsa. The Smiths were dedicated members of their community their entire lives, Mrs. Smith volunteered her time with the Assistance League of Tulsa and the Kiwanis Club. She worshipped at the First United Methodist Church of Tulsa.
