Susan Scott McKee was born February 22, 1947 in Chicago, IL to Aubrey Dale and Angela Kane (Van Scyoc) Scott. She passed from this life at her home in Tulsa Thursday, March 5, 2015. She was 68.
Sue was a 1965 graduate of St. Joseph Central Catholic High School and received her BA in English in 1969 from Marshall University, both located in Huntington, WV. She married Tom McKee, her beloved soul mate on May 31, 1969 and began a full life of travel and adventure, business and service to the community.
Sue and Tom moved to Tulsa in 1972 and made it their home. Early on, she was involved with Junior League of Tulsa and Tulsa Opera, where she made lifelong friends. Business took Tom and Sue to the far reaches of the world, introducing them to cultures and people from everywhere: China, Russia, Romania, Europe, India, Egypt and more. Her passion for travel never stopped. In recent years, she devoted her time to “Women in Recovery,” a program that gives an alternative to incarceration for women facing prison sentences.
A beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and great friend, Sue is survived by one son, William Thomas McKee, Jr. and his wife, Michelle; two daughters, Megan McKee Harris and her husband, Jesse, Katie McKee Clay and her husband, Jordan Clay; grandchildren, Peyton Grace Clay and Xander Thomas Harris. She is also survived by two brothers, Timothy Dale Scott and his wife, Joan and Jeffrey Spencer Scott, all of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Sue was a creative visionary who was fun and enthusiastic about life. She had a ready laugh and smile for all of her friends. The testament to her life well lived is how beloved she is by all who knew her. She will be missed greatly.
