Obituary of Roscoe Lee Vrooman, Jr.

Roscoe (Ross) Vrooman was born on April 13, 1932 and left this world to be with Jesus on Saturday, February 7, 2015. He graduated from Tulsa Central High in 1950 and Oklahoma A & M (OSU) in 1955 with a degree in business. Ross married his high school sweetheart and homecoming queen, Ina Croston from Sapulpa, OK in 1953. He loved his four children, Debbie, Linda, David and Steven, very much. He also adored his seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Emily, Savannah, Daniel, Breanna, Bethany, and great-granddaughter Avani. Ross is survived by his loving wife Ina, children: Debbie, Linda, and Steven; brother, Jon Vrooman; sister, Liz Enochs and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Ross was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe Vrooman Sr.; his mother, Margaret Vrooman; brother, Roger Vrooman, and son David Vrooman.
Ross served in the Air Force after college for 2 years and 8 years in the reserves. He was hired by Aetna Life and Casualty in 1957 and retired after 36 years of service. He was a general and regional manager who sold pension and employee benefit plans.
Ross was the high school state champion in Oklahoma for the high jump and held the record for many years. He received a track scholarship to OSU and held the high jump record for the Missouri Valley Conference for 15 years. At age 68 he won the national high jump title in his age group for the Senior Games. He also coached his son’s basketball team to an AAU State Title in 1983 and multiple Little League baseball league titles. Roscoe also showed great love to his dogs over the years: Scamper, Oreo, Ping, Pong, Beauty, Peppy, Tiny, and Dottie.
