Kathleen “Katy” Helen Wallace Hollingsworth was born May 2, 1918 in Ringling, Oklahoma to Charles William & Frances Petrolina (Hlawacek) Wallace and passed from this life on December 29, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 96.
Katy was a lifetime educator, graduating a year early from high school and college and then teaching until retirement. She graduated in 1935 from Ringling High School and she graduated in 1939 from Southeastern State College in Durant, Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
Immediately after graduation, she taught elementary school in Denison, Texas. During WWII she was an employee of the United States War Department. After she married William “Bill” A. Hollingsworth, she taught at the University of Tulsa and several Tulsa Public Schools. During this time she also received a Masters Degree from the University of Tulsa.
She was an active member of the English Speaking Union and Southminster Presbyterian Church. She and Bill enjoyed bowling, fishing and bridge with their many friends.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings – Thomas Charles Wallace, William Patrick Wallace, Marie Ellen Wallace Pollard and Anna Jane Wallace Monroe. She is survived by her nephew, Thomas William Wallace and his wife Susan Harrill Wallace; her nieces, Sandra Wallace Parker and husband Joseph Lloyd Parker, Jr., Kathleen Wallace Sonberg and husband Richard Thompson Sonberg and Mary Fran Wallace Oberly.
A funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel.
