Obituary of Ruth Spess Morris

Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruth Spess Morris was born May 15, 1928 in Tulsa, OK to James Roy & Lily (Raifsnyder) Spess and passed from this life May 27, 2014 at the age of 86. Ruth was known for and never lost her quick wit, spunkiness, sarcasm, or outspokenness. She always kept up with world affairs and was proud to be a lifelong Democrat. Ruth had two passions, her family and for many years golf. She played golf first at LaFortune and then at Southern Hills. Her kids said it was “her job”. But her family always was the most important thing in her life. She loved and taught her family to make their families the center of their lives. She created many great family traditions that will always be cherished by every member of her family. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Landis O. (Bo) Morris; her sisters Marge Stegemeier and Rebecca Hangs; and her daughter-in-law Margaret Williams. She is survived by her children, Paul R. Williams and his wife Marydith of Tulsa, Priscilla Givens of Irvine, CA, Melissa Basse and her husband Lonnie of Tulsa, Gregory Williams of Corpus Christi, TX and Jennifer Morrison and her husband Ken of Muskogee; and her sisters, Emmy Wixson of Tulsa and Ramona Krotzer of Sand Springs; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. The family wants to express their heartfelt gratitude and thanks for the loving and compassionate care given by her caregivers, Cassie Brewer and Melanie Tucker. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home Chapel. Ninde Brookside Chapel, 918.742.5556, ninde.com
