Jim Ivie was born in Amber, OK to Charles Huston and Nora Bessie Ivie on May 30, 1926. While residing in the Veterans Center in Claremore,OK, he passed away on April 28, 2014. During WWII at the age of 16 Jim joined the Navy and served in the Pacific aboard the New Mexico. He volunteered for the limited crew that returned the severely damaged sister ship Mississippi to San Diego, CA. There he married Virginia "Ginny" Henshall on August 4, 1945, prior to his honorable discharge as Fire Controlman third class. Using his GI bill he completed refrigeration repair school and eventually became a manufacturers representative for several companies. His territories covered the entire US. He was one of the first "Million Mile" travelers with United Airlines and was one of the first frequent flyers on Southwest Airlines. Jim was well known and loved for his story telling; love of fishing; building and handyman skills; barbeque sauce recipe; and gardening abilities. He was also a member of Master Gardeners in Tulsa. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, eleven siblings and granddaughter Ehren Lynne Pearson. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Ginny Ivie; sister Mary Jane Wilson; children Suzie and Carmine Forcina, Chuck Ivie and Natasha Duncan; five grandchildren Kristen Couchot, Bryan and Samantha Forcina, Todd and Katie Pearson, Jennifer and Brian Barth, Jodie and Casey Pyle; fourteen great-grandchildren Jacob, Allison, Kira, Annabella, Giovanni, Zander, Grace, Tanner, Leonardo, Alexis, Adrianna, Nickolas, Emmy and Ella; and good friend Almeda Roach.
