Steve, may god bless you and your family. Karen was no doubt a special person since god had her join him in heaven. I know you will miss her very much but please do not let it take your breath away. Continue to breath and live life in it's fullest. You know that's what Karen wants.

I remember going to her apartment when I was littleplaying with one of the original barbies and thinking that she was soooooo cool because she lived on the second floor and she had a pool.
She had great earrings, long hair and a yellow rolling Stones t-shirt.
She loved her calico catwhat a sugarand her sweet schnauzer, Tikki. Cooing in silly voices was a common language.
I remember Thanksgivings and Christmases, and other potlucks.
Making toffee, and divinity and Martha Washingtons and fudge.
Swimming in her backyard every day of the summer before my senior year.
Going to the casino to spend $20 on penny slots, which lasted a couple of hours
Listening to her and my mom laugh until they cried over the same old stories.
A distinctive smile, a great laugh.
Green thumbsFeeding the birds.
Good Heartthe kind that reaches out and gives when its unexpected.
Strongthe kind of strong that keeps you in the conversation when your feelings are hurt. The kind that withstands pain or disappointment.
Stubbornthe kind that can't give in and pushes.
Firecrackersassy, quicksharp-tongued. Unafraid to say exactly what she thoughtsometimes without thinking.

I love this, Katie. I have missed her so much over these years. I don’t think I have ever laughed as hard with anyone as I did with aunt Karen. And the part at the end “the kind of strong that keeps you in the conversation when your feelings are hurt” So true. She and I got into some pretty heated disagreements but we always made up and laughed uncontrollably afterwards. She had the best laugh and the way she talked to Tikki and Callie was the best.

It feels like I have know Karen my entire life. I fondly remember slumber parties, cooking together, swimming at the Elk's Lodge, her famous "sunburns", going to the lake, toilet papering the poor victims of the neighborhood, the way she imitated her Dad when he got mad, learning to drive, the usual teen "first's" with alcohol, etc., and sharing an apartment around Swan Lake off of Utica. We enjoyed the same love of music, food, jokes, life experiences and family drama's. I will miss her.
