Mary Ann (Stockton) Park was born July 8, 1918 in Wagoner, Oklahoma the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Susie Jane (Leach) Stockton. She completed this life on Monday, May 23, 2011 at the age of 92.
Her family moved to Tulsa when she was 10 years old. Mary Ann graduated from Tulsa Central High School and then Oklahoma School of Accounting. Mary Ann met Merrell Bradford Park after high school graduation at Westminster Presbyterian church in Tulsa where they were later married on September 3, 1939.
Merrell joined the Navy during World War II and Mary Ann and daughter, Lynda followed him to Corpus Christi, Texas, Alameda, California and Livermore where Merrell was stationed during the War. At the end of the War they moved back to Tulsa where Merrell began working for Peak, Marwick and Mitchell.
Mary Ann was active throughout her life in both her Church and Community.
She was President of John Burroughs PTA several times and was active in and a leader of Lynda's Girl Scout Troup for many years. Mary Ann was an active member of South Minster Presbyterian Church where she was a Deacon, a Circle leader, President of the Presbyterian Women's Association and was awarded an Honorary Life Membership in the National Presbyterian Women's Association. She was also a member and President of her Garden Club, President of Pi Beta Phi Mother's Club, past president of the Kiwanitas, a member of several Square and Round Dance Clubs as well as Past President of Oklahoma Round Dance Association and World Travelers and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
Mary Ann also spent many years working with the Miss Oklahoma Pageant.
Mary Ann and Merrell loved to travel and visited over 96 countries during their lifetime. They loved their friends they met during their travels in addition to all their friends in Tulsa.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Merrell Bradford, her parents, her brother, Grover Cleveland Stockton, Jr. and her Grandson, James "Brad"ford Hillier. She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Park Hillier of Stillwater, OK; her son, Jerry Ross Park of Atlanta, GA; her Grandchildren, Susan Hillier Richmeier, Robert "Brian" Hillier, Ross Park and Whit Park; her great Grandchildren, Laura, Lindsey and Reid Richmeier as well as Jackson and Avery Hillier all of whom she was known as Grandma Annie.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18th in the Southminster Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow.
