Obituary of Dean Wilson

Dean Wilson, 84, retired Internal Auditor for the Tulsa Public Schools, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday morning. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 6, at 10:00 a.m. at the Memorial Bible Church with his grandson, Rev. Russell Cravens, officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Michael Wilson, Dean Wilson, Benjamin Wilson, Isaac Wilson, Nathaniel Wilson and John Wilson. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors provided by the District 5 Honor Guard. Mr. Wilson was born on January 19, 1926 to Allen and Charlotte (Custer) Wilson in Wabash, Indiana. He and Betsy Lavengood were united in marriage on October 3, 1943 in Tulsa. He enlisted in the United States Army on September 15, 1944 in Oklahoma City and was honorably discharged on January 9, 1946 in Texas. During his term of service, Dean was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained on Okinawa. He began his career with the Tulsa Public Schools in the accounting department in 1955. Later he became the Internal Auditor, a position he held until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the American Legion and attended Memorial Bible Church. He is survived by two sons, Todd and Chris and their wives, Laurie and Edwina, his brothers DeVon Wilson of Wabash, Indiana and Dale Wilson of Chicago, his grandchildren, Brooke Derrickson, Amanda Vail, Sarah Thomas, Tamara Swinson, Dean, Michael, Benjamin, Isaac, Nathaniel and John Wilson and Russell Cravens, and his great grandchildren, Alexandria and Trenton Thomas, Elissa and Zach Derrickson, Keegan and Irelyn Vail, Koby, Keaton and Pryce Cravens, Katarina and Brittany Cravens and Noah and Zoe Swinson. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his wife Betsy Wilson on November 15, 2009, his son, Kim Wilson, great grandson, David Isaac Swinson and his sister Eileen Deal.
