Obituary of Frances Wozencraft
Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Wozencraft, Frances (Preston) "Fran," of Tulsa and Mannford, OK was born January 9, 1927 in Seminole, OK to Roy and Claudia (Garrison) Preston. She went to Heaven on November 29, 2010 at the age of 83.
She was a 1943 graduate of Seminole High School and attended Christian College in Columbia, MO in 1946; she received her Bachelor's of Arts degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1948 and was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. Fran met Wallace O. "Wally" Wozencraft on Valentine's Day 1942 at a Seminole High School dance; they were married June 21, 1947. Fran was employed as a school teacher at OU in 1949-'50. She worked as bookkeeper for many years with Wally at Wozencraft and Associates architectural design firm.
Fran was an active lifetime member of Boston Avenue Methodist Church and supporter of Boy Scouts of America, serving Troop 20 and a den mother to many Cub Scouts. She served as president of the Tulsa Garden Center in the 1960's, earning the honor of flower show Grand Master Judge.
Fran was the proverbial example of a Proverbs 31 wife and mother: far more precious than jewels, she spoke with wisdom and kindness and was a very giving person.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Elmer Preston; her son, Chris and her grandson, Eric Wozencraft. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wally; three children, Kathy Casey and her husband, Kenneth, Rick Wozencraft and his wife, Gina, Tom Wozencraft and his wife, Nancy; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeff, Kelly and Alex.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, December 3, 2010 at Boston Avenue Methodist Church with a private family committal at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
Friends may contribute in Fran's memory to Boston Avenue Church Music Department, 1301 S. Boston Ave. Tulsa, OK 74119 or Boy Scouts of America, 4295 S. Garnett Rd., Tulsa, OK 74146.
