Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sharon Lynn (Smith) Saied was born February 25, 1945 in Sapulpa, OK to Harry T. and Florine (Rankin) Smith. She passed from this life peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the age of 67. Sharon graduated as a proud Chieftan from Sapulpa High School in 1963 and then went on to study art at Oklahoma State University. While there she met Paul Mooney and they married during her senior year. After giving birth to her first 2 children, Kimberly and Dave in Stillwater, they moved to Connecticut where her third child, Keri was born and eventually back to Tulsa where she gave birth to her fourth child, Daniel.
In 1982 she married Bob Saied. A few years later, their son, Dustin was born.
Sharon gave of her time for numerous charitable events. Among those were Cystic Fibrosis, YWCA, where she was named the "Angel" in 2009, and Tulsa Public Schools. She was a member of Key Elementary School PTA - serving as president 9 times. Altogether she was in Tulsa Public Schools PTA for 30 consecutive years. She was on the Superintendents Council and was named the Tulsa Public Schools Volunteer of the Year. She always felt that one of her greatest responsibilities and greatest gifts was to give back to public education.
She was an avid bridge player as were many of her closest friends. She also enjoyed her years traveling and learning about antiques with her antique club. After her children left home Sharon began to paint again for the sheer joy of creating something beautiful. She gave away many of her paintings to friends and family over the last few years. Sharon loved to entertain. Her home was always decorated for every holiday both inside and out. Most holidays were just another reason to have friends and family join her and Bob, whether it was a Christmas dinner, a New Years Eve party, a hot dog and chili get together on Halloween, or a July 4th family outing at their home at Grand Lake. She also loved to have a bunch of friends at her home to watch OSU football or basketball.
Sharon loved to travel. Her favorite place was always the last place she went. She and Bob traveled to Japan, China and Europe on business plus saw most of the country while visiting with the Omega group - a small number of other music store owners.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 30 years, Bob Saied, Kim and Greg Koch, Dave and Cynthia Mooney, Keri and Shaun Edwardes, Dan Mooney, Dustin Saied and Martha Doll, all of Tulsa.
