Winfred Leo Hamilton was born January 28, 1932 in Cedar Glades, Arkansas to James and Mary Ellen (Heron) Hamilton and passed from this life August 6, 2010 at the age of 78. Leo dedicated over 40 years of his life to his true passion, coaching baseball. In that time, he coached hundreds of kids and finished with over 1,000 wins to his name. He was never seen without his Mack Truck hat. When he was not coaching, he traveled all over the state and region just to sit in the stands and watch baseball. He also enjoyed his morning coffee with his close friends, a daily ritual. Leo is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Deanna Jane (Truby) Hamilton; his daughters, Jerinda Davis and Markesa Hamilton; his sons Michael and Richard McCormick; his daughter-in-laws Gail and Kathleen McCormick; his sisters, Dorceal Montgomery, Sue Gentry and Dean Harrell; his brothers, Delmer Hamilton and James "Olen" Hamilton; and his five grandchildren. Leo will lie in state 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2010 with family visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010all at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home.
