Obituary of Robert Childers

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert "Bob" Jordan Childers was born January 18, 1921 to William Emerson and Ruth (Jordan) Childers in Siloam Springs, Arkansas and passed from this life June 10, 2010 at the age of 89. Upon graduating from Bixby High School Bob served in the United States Marine Corp in World War II at Iwo Jima. Upon his honorable discharge he married the love of his life, Betty Jo Hodges, on May 29, 1958. Bob graduated from the University of Tulsa with a law degree and operated his own practice for 30 years. He enjoyed golfing and fishing with his buddies who fondly referred to him as "Chili". He was an avid Oklahoma University football fan and attended school there during the Bud Wilkerson era. Preceded in death by his parents, Bob is survived by his wife Betty Childers; his sons and daughter-in-law, Mike & Pat Childers and Bill Childers; his daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Tom Hoefling; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. We will all miss his singing voice, impeccable wit and sense of humor. A special thank you to all his caretakers at Colonial Manor and Sojourn Hospice. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home Chapel.
