Obituary of Virginia Mauzey

Virginia L. Mauzey was born August 7, 1923 in Tulsa to David A. and Pearl Trotter Mauzey. She passed from this life Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the age of 86. Virginia attended school in Tulsa, but moved to Beverly Hills, California where she graduated from high school in 1940. She returned to Tulsa and attended Hillcrest Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1945. In 1947, Virginia accomplished her educational goal by receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Tulsa University. Her career as an RN with Hillcrest Medical Center continued for 30 years. After her retirement, Virginia was active in Hillcrest Medical Center Retiree group. Her past co-workers and many volunteers from Hillcrest remained supportive friends throughout her life. Virginia attended New Covenant Sunday School Class of Boston Avenue Methodist Church. Many people in this class were considered 'family' by Virginia. Her respect, admiration and appreciation of these friends lasted many years. Virginia was preceded in death by her father in 1927 and her mother in 1982. Her sister, Betty Jane Mauzey Chemas and brother, Billy Ben Evans also predeceased her. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy Evans of Australia; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Rose Chapel of Boston Avenue Methodist Church.
