Obituary of Bernice Smith

Smith, Bernice M., 99, died Sunday, March 4, 2007. She was the youngest of six children, born in Colchester, IL on December 12, 1907 to Henry and Clara (Ledgerwood) Myers. The family moved to Columbus, KS in 1911 where she attended school and graduated from Columbus High School. She came to Tulsa in 1928 and attended Tulsa Business College. In 1929 she married Earl R. Smith. For twenty-one years they owned and operated a restaurant, Earl's Food Shop, in downtown Tulsa until retiring in 1961. They enjoyed traveling before Earl's death in 1965. Bowling with her friends on the Pin Buster Team at Sheridan Bowl was a favorite hobby. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church since 1929 and was dedicated to her Sunday School Class. Bernie, a people person, will be remembered for the joy she gave and received while being with friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and sisters. Several nieces and nephews survive her. Service 11:00 A.M. Thursday Ninde Woodland Chapel interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
